Teams We Support

FIRST Lego League (FLL)

The Alpha Dogs run and mentor 2 FLL teams. The Delta Pups and Gamma Pups have competed in 2 FLL seasons. These students, in grades 5-8, meet at the Caledon Public Library with youth mentors from The Alpha Dogs to design, build and program fascinating lego machines, capable of many unique tasks. They also learn important skills like problem-solving, and teamwork. These teams then take their robots to events where they compete one on one against other teams at the event and present their Innovation Project to judges.

FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC)

In partnership with our school, The Alpha Dogs launched FTC team 19468. This team is also a grade 12 robotics course, where students are given the opportunity to use engineering skills in a classroom setting. The team has been very successful in its first year, placing in the top 5 out of 100 teams in the province and qualifying for the provincial championship.

FIRST Robotics COmpetition (FRC)

The Alpha Dogs are helping to bring the FRC experience to more high schools in Ontario. We recently partnered with rookie team 8884, Crimson Revolution, from Northern Secondary School to help them through their first season. We have provided them with equipment to help them build their robot and their members have shadowed our senior members to learn skills and be able to ask questions about our process. We also had a joint kickoff where we shared ideas and helped them to strategize for this year’s game.
